What is Functional English?

‘Functional English’ is the use of English language in real-life situations. It is used to perform a specific function.

For anyone who wishes to improve their fluency and confidence in everyday English

Content of the Course

The syllabus aims at creating a strong foundation in reading, writing, speaking skills and grammar.
• Reading: Learning to read official letters, news reports, online content, and comprehension
• Writing: Learning to write notes, messages and emails
• Conversational skills: learning to make small talk, asking and answering basic questions, describing daily routines, and telephone etiquette.
• It helps in having conversations at malls, restaurants or cafes, airports
• Grammar: Understanding basic and advanced English grammar, parts of speech, tenses, articles, sentence structure, and formation.
• Vocabulary building: Being aware of commonly mis-pronounced words in English, learn describing words, and using the appropriate words.
• Social skills: Learning every day phrases, expressing opinions, reacting to news, congratulating people, initiating discussions, and extending conversations.
